A Lexington man is charged with multiple felonies after reportedly stealing a Bobcat skid steer.
According to a probable cause statement, Shane Marcus Wilson allegedly stole the skid steer after an accident on a pond in Lexington. Wilson and another woman were fishing in a boat on a pond near Coyote Lane when the boat flipped over. Wilson stated he woke up on the bank of the pond. Wilson then found a Bobcat skid steer from a nearby outbuilding and allegedly drove it without seeking permission. Wilson told authorities from the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office that he used the Bobcat to get back to a residence on Coyote Lane. The stolen Bobcat was later located along the wood line approximately 393 yards south of Coyote Lane. The owner of the Bobcat is pursuing criminal charges against Wilson for the incident.
Court documents say Wilson is charged with felonies for tampering with a motor vehicle in the first degree and stealing. Wilson was arraigned and posted $25,000 surety bond on May 5.
Wilson has a counsel status hearing scheduled to be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 25 at Lafayette County Circuit Court.
