A Bates City man has been charged with felonies after authorities responded to a physical disturbance on May 9.
According to a probable cause statement, authorities reported that James William Frisbey barricaded himself and a woman in the master bedroom of his residence. Frisbey was allegedly keeping the woman in the residence against her will. Authorities noted they could hear the woman saying “Just let me go” numerous times. Frisbey eventually released the woman from the bedroom. Authorities stated that Frisbey allegedly punched the woman, physically held her down, and threatened to kill her and another woman multiple times.
Court documents say Frisbey is charged with felonies for kidnapping in the first degree, domestic assault in the third degree, and resisting arrest. Frisbey was arraigned and plead not guilty on May 11. He is being held without bond.
Frisbey has a hearing scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 1 at Lafayette County Circuit Court.
