The Fourth annual Saline County Career Center (SCCC) DECA Awards ceremony was held Friday, May 6, to honor the SCCC Chapter in multiple areas.

A press release says with the chapter officers acting as the master of ceremonies, students were presented with DECA stoles, letters, pins and two awards.

SCCC DECA competitors were recognized for competing at district, state and international competition, as well as earning Thrive status and completing four DECA chapter campaigns for the fourth year in a row.

The next year’s leadership team was announced and received commitment letters, as well.

Students recognized for earning a DECA letter/pin during the 2021-22 school year were: Holly Huston, Xane Anderson, Michelle Lin, Bailey Kueker, Gabriel Boatman, Kelly Stewart, Cynthia Martinez, Jessica Parada, Gentrie Davis, Lizvet Menendez and Avery Evans.

ASCEND DECA SCHOLARSHIP
This was the fifth year the SCCC Chapter offered an ASCEND DECA scholarship. Parada, a senior, was awarded $250 based on a short essay, GPA and resume.

Gold Stoles (Seniors earning gold stoles were on the leadership team this year) were: Stewart, Anderson, Parada, Martinez and Menendez.

Award of Excellence (Those who scored in the top 25 percent in their categories at ICDC this year) were: Lin, Parada, Menendez, Kueker and Huston.

Top Dough4DECA Salesperson Award (Starting this year, students who help raise the most for the chapter) were: Huston and Kueker.
