A Centerview man facing a sex-related felony charge for soliciting a teenage girl to adhere to sexual requests pleaded guilty to an amended charge and has been sentenced.
While he was incarcerated at the Johnson County Jail, Matthew Paul Dempsey made several phone calls to a girl and asked the girl to expose her chest to him. Authorities say the calls were made on August 15, 16 and 25, 2021.
Court documents say Dempsey- who was indicted by a Grand Jury on February 15- pleaded guilty to the amended charge of sexual trafficking of a child in the second degree at Johnson County Circuit Court.
On Monday, May 23, Dempsey was sentenced to four years in the Missouri Department of Corrections. However, the sentence was suspended, and Dempsey was placed on five years of supervised probation. Dempsey also is required to register as a sex offender.
