The Lexington city council created an ad hoc committee to discuss the recruitment of a new fire chief and ways to improve funding for the fire department.

City Administrator Mark O’Dell says the committee will look at alternative funding for the fire department.

In other news, the council approved a request to close 10th Street between Main and Franklin for Second Sundays beginning on June 12. There are trolley tours scheduled to be held at 11 a.m., 1 and 3 p.m. There are also merchants and a farmers market scheduled to be open from 12-4 p.m.
