A Bates City man has been found guilty of a sex-related felony.

According to a release from Lafayette County Prosecuting Attorney Kristen Hilbrenner, after a two-day jury trial, a Saline County jury found Lonnie Ogle Sr. guilty of a class A felony of Child Molestation in the First Degree on Wednesday, May 25.

The trial was held in Saline County after the defendant requested a change of venue and was litigated by Hilbrenner.

The defendant was charged after allegations of sexual contact were made by a 5-year-old victim. Following testimony of 11 witnesses put on by the State and one witness by the defense, the jury deliberated for approximately an hour and a half before reaching its unanimous verdict.

The defendant is scheduled to be sentenced on June 27. He faces between 10 and 30 years in the Department of Corrections, without the possibility of parole.
