Jeannie Donnell Horton, age 53, of Springfield, MO, formerly of Marshall, left her battle with NeuroEndocrine Tumor cancer to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 26, 2022.
Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at Marshall Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Marshall with Rev. Randy Shannon officiating. Inurnment will follow in Ridge Park Cemetery. There will be no visitation, but friends may sign the guestbook and pay their respects from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society (NET) in care of the funeral home and an online guestbook is available at www.campbell-lewis.com.
Jeannie was born on March 6, 1969, in Marshall, and was the daughter of Russell and Mary Kay Donnell who survive of Marshall. She grew up in Marshall and was a 1987 graduate of Marshall High School where she was active as a MHS twirler and a star or cast member in three MHS plays. Jeannie attended Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield, graduating in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science degree in computer information systems. She was a certified Microsoft Systems Engineer and Database Administrator. In 2009 she began employment at Cox Hospital in Springfield as a system engineer, transferring to Cerner as a Senior Project Manager in 2012 where she was employed until the time of her death. Jeannie was active in her church and volunteer organizations and served as president of Springfield’s Big Brother and Sisters organization. Jeannie loved spending time with family and friends, which was exhibited by attending school and athletic activities for her children, niece, and nephew. She and David Williams began painting in April 2019 and they became proficient artists.
Jeannie is survived by her children, Zoie Horton and Adam Horton; her parents, Russell and Mary Kay Donnell; her brother, Mike Donnell (Deanna); niece, Kate Donnell; nephew, Jack Donnell; Godmother, Donna Zahn; special friend, David Williams; as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Harold and Dorothy Hawley; her step-grandmother, Velma Hawley; paternal grandparents, Roy and Val Donnell; her Godfather, Edward Zahn; and an uncle, Don Hawley.
