The jury trial for a Warrensburg man charged with multiple felonies after he allegedly killed another man more than two years ago has been rescheduled from earlier this month to later this year.
A felony complaint alleges Wayne Lewis Hill Jr. knowingly caused the death of Joseph Campbell by shooting him- while a 3-year-old child and an infant were in the room- on or about March 7, 2020.
According to court documents, Hill is charged with several felonies, including second-degree murder.
On May 11, the court took up pre-trial issues. The state began its presentation of the evidence, and the court read recess instructions to the jury and took a recess. The defense made a motion to remove jurors, which the court granted. The court declared a mistrial due to an insufficient number of jurors.
A case review is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Monday, July 11. Hill’s four-day jury trial is now set to begin at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, August 9, at Johnson County Circuit Court.
