Pettis County has released an emergency government proclamation of a disaster occurring in the City of Sedalia and Pettis County.

The statement reads:
“Pettis County and Sedalia, Missouri, have encountered a natural disaster brought about by heavy rainfall, and a threat exists to the lives and property of the people of the City of Sedalia /Pettis County, and; that areas within the boundaries of Pettis County, Missouri, are immediately threatened with flooding and the protection of the lives and mitigating property damage contained in Pettis County, Missouri, requires immediate action.”

The release continues:
“We, David Dick, Jim Marcum, Israel Baeza, Commissioners of the County of Pettis, and Andrew Dawson, Mayor of the City of Sedalia, hereby declare that a disaster has occurred in Pettis County and the City of Sedalia, and we hereby invoke and declare in full force and effect in Pettis County and the City of Sedalia, all laws, statutes, of the State of Missouri, Pettis County, and the City of Sedalia, for the exercise of all necessary emergency authority for the protection of the lives and property of the people of Pettis County and the City of Sedalia, Missouri, and the restoration of local government services and infrastructure with minimal interruption.

As pursuant with Chapter 44 of the Revised Missouri State Statutes, Pettis County Commission Orders, and City of Sedalia Ordinances, as pertinent to:
All public offices and employees of Pettis County and the City of Sedalia, Missouri, are hereby directed to exercise the utmost diligence in discharge of duties required of them for the duration of the response to such disaster and in the execution of emergency action laws, regulations, and directives.
