During a court proceeding on Wednesday, June 1, a Boonville resident charged with a felony for leaving the scene of an accident that caused injuries to another person changed his plea.

On May 12, 2021, a Boonville Police report says Treyvon Korte was the driver of a vehicle that struck a juvenile male and threw him to the ground. Korte then accelerated and fled the scene without stopping to check on the boy.

Court documents say Korte was charged with a felony for leaving the scene of an accident causing physical injury. On May 23, Korte opted to cancel his jury trial and accept a bench trial.

During the court proceeding on June 1, Korte withdrew his not guilty plea and pleaded guilty to the felony for leaving the scene of an accident causing physical injury.

A sentencing assessment report has been ordered, and sentencing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Monday, August 8, at Cooper County Circuit Court.
