The Marshall Municipal Utilities Board of Public Works approved a bid from Krueger and Associates for two stationary lead acid battery strings for the Miami and Southeast Substations.
The current battery bank at the Miami and Southeast Substation was installed in January 2004. These batteries provide DC power for trip close circuits, protective relaying, and communication devices. The electric distribution department recommended the board approve the bid from Krueger and Associates for the cost of $13,824 each.
The board approved the motion. The batteries are estimated to take about 14 to 16 weeks to be delivered.
The board also approved a motion to request bids to install conduit, pedestals, and vaults for approximately 90 miles for the second USDA grant.
In other news, the board tabled a motion to approve the MMU Cash Reserve Policy. The board wanted the policy to further explain the minimum 90-day cash on hand average for the Water and Wastewater departments.
