At a meeting during May, it was reported the city of Marshall will not be going ahead with outsourcing its sanitation services. So, since then, weekly meetings have been held to get a better understanding of the department and its needs.
During the city council meeting on Monday, June 6, City Administrator JD Kehrman talked about what’s been ascertained from meetings with Municipal Services- the sanitation and street departments- so far. A formal recommendation will be made during a future council meeting.
Kehrman explained how many employees there are in the sanitation department.
Kehrman talked about curbside recycling, and how that perhaps that could be modified.
Kehrman also talked about yard waste and possibly establishing pay grades for sanitation and street department employees among other topics. However, he cautioned these are only discussions, and not yet set in stone as to what will be brought before the council during a future meeting.
Kehrman encourages any resident who has a comment to go to the city’s website and submit it there. The city’s website is: https://www.marshall-mo.com/.
