
The Missouri Valley College men’s and women’s rodeo teams are set to begin competition at the 2022 College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR) at the Ford Center in Casper, Wyoming, June 12-18.
Both Valley rodeo teams will seek National championships with six cowboys and four cowgirls competing over the next week. The first go-round for all competitors will be Sunday and Monday, with the slack round split between Monday and Tuesday morning. Third go-round performances will take place between Tuesday evening and Friday. Those qualifying for the final round will compete Saturday, June 18, for a National title.
The men’s rodeo team captured a sixth straight Ozark Region championship and has won 20 consecutive rodeo competitions within the region. The Vikings finished the regular season with 9,065 points, and topped the National standings going into the CNFR. The Lady Vikings finished as runner-up in the Ozark Region.
Senior Chance Masters (Leon, Iowa), sophomore Ty Pope (Williamsburg, Kan.) and junior Cole Franks (Clarendon, Texas) will compete in saddle bronc riding. Masters will perform on Sunday, Tuesday morning and Wednesday; Pope on Sunday, Monday and Friday; and Franks on Sunday, Tuesday morning and Thursday.
Bareback riding features Franks, Pope and senior Nick Pelke (Gilmanton, Wis.). Franks competes Sunday, Tuesday morning and Tuesday evening; Pope on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday evening; and Pelke on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday evening.
Senior Kolten Achenbach (Richland Center, Wis.) competes in bull riding on Sunday, Tuesday morning and Friday.
Senior Tucker Alberts (Howell, Mich.) competes in steer wrestling on Monday, Tuesday morning and Tuesday evening.
On the women’s side, freshman Kenlie Raby (Mt. Vernon, Ark.), junior Taylor Mason (Marshall, Mo.) and senior Sheyenne Anderson (Palmyra, Mo.) will all compete in breakaway roping. Raby performs Sunday, Tuesday morning and Wednesday; Mason on Sunday, Tuesday morning and Friday; and Anderson on Sunday, Monday and Thursday.
Sophomore Lakin Cunningham (Louisburg, Kan.) and Anderson will compete in goat tying. Cunningham performs Monday, Tuesday morning and Tuesday evening; and Anderson on Monday, Tuesday morning and Friday.
