drug-charges-1000x563

A 35-year-old Sedalia man is facing a couple of felony charges after authorities executed a no-knock search warrant at an apartment on U.S. Highway 50 in Pettis County on Thursday, June 9.

Authorities say when they entered the apartment, Jonathan Johnson ran toward the back of the residence. He was located lying on the bathroom floor, and a law-enforcement officer says there was a bag with a crystal substance in it on top of toilet paper in the toilet. The officer says “from my experience, I know subjects to flush or attempt to flush the evidence.” The officer also said he observed a digital scale on the bathroom floor and a blue scale on Johnson’s dresser. Authorities say they also located other drug-related items, including a chocolate bar containing psilocybin mushrooms and another bag containing methamphetamine.

Court documents say Johnson is charged with felonies for trafficking drugs in the second degree and tampering with physical evidence in a felony prosecution. Bond is fixed at $30,000 cash or surety.

Johnson’s arraignment is scheduled to be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 13, at Pettis County Circuit Court.
