
Robert Eugene Guier, age 90, of Liberty, MO, formerly of Sweet Springs, MO, died Monday, June 20, 2022, at Liberty Hospital in Liberty, MO, surrounded by his family.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, a private family service will be held with no visitation. Memorials are suggested to Sweet Springs American Legion Post 279 or Wesley United Methodist Church in Sweet Springs in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home. Born June 30, 1931, in Slater, MO, he was the son of the late Edmond Guier Sr. and Lorena Wooden Guier. He was a 1949 graduate of Sweet Springs High School. On May 27, 1951, in Sweet Springs, he married his high school sweetheart, Marilyn Hall who survives of the home. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea from 1952 to 1953 achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant and earning a Purple Heart. He was wounded on October 14, 1952, at Triangle Hill, as part of L Company, 31st Regimental Combat Team, 7th Infantry Division. He was employed at KCP&L for 40 years until his retirement in 1994. He lived in Harlingen, TX from 2000 to 2021, moving to Liberty to assisted living in 2021. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Sweet Springs Lions Club, Sweet Springs American Legion Post 279 and Sweet Springs R-7 School Board.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn; son, Ken Guier (Vicki) of Warrensburg, MO, daughter, Kathy Guier Kipping (Paul) of Kansas City, MO; five grandchildren, Jason Kipping (Jordan), Keri Kipping Damgar (Casey), Karla Guier (Mahamat Ali Tchetchere), Bobby Guier (Heather) and Nealy May Riley (David); seven great-grandchildren, Granger Kipping, Emery Damgar, Amin Tchetchere, Amira Tchetchere, Kylie Guier, Cameron Riley, Ellison Riley and one on the way.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers: James, Les, Edmund Jr. and Charles Guier.
