A Warrensburg man is facing a felony charge after authorities were summoned to the report of a confidential victim with severe injuries on June 23.

According to a probable-cause statement, authorities arrived and observed the victim to have a deep laceration to their upper left arm that was still bleeding heavily. Officers also noticed bruising on the victim’s neck. The victim was transported to a hospital for treatment and evaluation.

Joe Nathan Donaldson told authorities the alleged victim showed up at his home uninvited, was intoxicated and swung a bottle alcohol at him. He said he only pushed the victim out of the way so he could leave the apartment and did not assault the person.

Authorities executed a search warrant at the apartment and found evidence, including blood droplets on the carpet, baseboards and door frame, as well as small shards of glass around the blood stains.

Court documents say Donaldson is charged with a felony for domestic assault in the second degree, with bond fixed at $20,000 cash or surety.

Donaldson’s initial appearance is scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, June 27, at Johnson County Circuit Court.
