
One of two persons charged with multiple felonies after a 47-year-old Warrensburg man was found dead of gunshot wounds on April 17 is due for a court proceeding.
Johnson County Sheriff Scott Munsterman says deputies responded to a rural Warrensburg address where they discovered Clifford Heffele deceased from multiple gunshot wounds. A second Victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries from a single gunshot wound.
Brandon L. Nodine, of Warrensburg, is charged with felonies for second-degree murder, armed criminal action, first-degree burglary, unlawful use of a weapon and tampering with a motor vehicle in the first degree.
Chevy Rashan Benton, of Kansas City, who was 17 years old at the time and 18 now, is charged with 14 total felonies, including second-degree murder, armed criminal action, first-degree burglary, assault in the first degree and unlawful use of a weapon.
Each subject is being held without bond.
Nodine pleaded not guilty on April 20. A motion for bond reduction was denied on May 4, and he was indicted by a grand jury on May 26.
Benton pleaded not guilty on May 18.
A case review for Nodine is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Monday, July 11, at Johnson County Circuit Court.
Benton’s request for change of venue to Cass County was granted, and his case review is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Monday, August 8, at Cass County Circuit Court.
