A couple of weapon-related felony charges have been filed against a 37-year-old Lexington man for an alleged incident on July 5.

A Lexington Police report says officers were dispatched to the Lexington Marina for a report of a man waving a gun. While en route, central dispatch informed officers the reporting party said the subject fired six shots into the air.

Once located, authorities say Dominique Andrew Coward ran, fired one round and flipped over a cable barrier. Coward then gave up and walked toward the officer and was arrested.

When talking to authorities, Coward reportedly admitted to firing the gun.

Court documents say Coward is charged with felonies for unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful use of a weapon- exhibiting; as well as two misdemeanors. Bond is set at $50,000 cash or surety.

Coward was arraigned and pleaded not guilty on July 7. An order for a mental evaluation was filed on July 8. His next hearing is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 3, at Lafayette County Circuit Court.
