A Bates City man who has been charged with felonies after authorities responded to a physical disturbance on May 9 is due in court.

According to a probable-cause statement, authorities say James William Frisbey barricaded himself and a woman in the master bedroom of his residence, allegedly keeping the woman against her will.

Frisbey also is alleged to have punched the woman, physically held her down and threatened to kill her and another woman multiple times.

Court documents say Frisbey is charged with felonies for kidnapping in the first degree, domestic assault in the third degree and resisting arrest.

Frisbey was arraigned and pleaded not guilty on May 11. He is being held without bond.

Frisbey’s next hearing is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 13, at Lafayette County Circuit Court.
