A court proceeding is scheduled for a Holden man facing several felony charges for alleged inappropriate touching and other sexual acts involving a juvenile female.
A probable-cause statement says the girl told authorities Douglas Lee Meyers touched her inappropriately on several areas of her body between December 2020 and June 2022. The girl was less than 18 years of age at the time.
Authorities say Meyers admitted to inappropriately touching the girl in one area but said he never touched her purposely in any of the other areas of her body. However, he acknowledged this may have occurred while “playing around.” He also reportedly admitted that “while playing around,” he may have pulled down the girl’s pants.
Court documents say Meyers is charged with felonies for three counts of child molestation, two counts of statutory sodomy and one count of attempted statutory rape. Bond remains at $75,000 cash only.
Meyers was arraigned and pleaded not guilty on July 5. His counsel-status hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, at Johnson County Circuit Court.
