During the quarterly meeting of the Develop Saline County Advisory Board on Thursday, July 14, Northern District Commissioner Stephanie Gooden gave an update on the turn lane being constructed just south of Marshall Junction on U.S. Highway 65.

Gooden says the project is progressing at a good pace.

Southern District Commissioner Monte Fenner said the foreman is predicting this project will be finished by the end of August or middle of September if the weather continues to cooperate. The actual completion deadline date is December 1.

The county’s portion of the funding for this project is coming from the proceeds from the half-cent economic development sales tax approved by voters in April 2018. The county started collecting the tax on October 1, 2018. As of this month, the county has raked in a total of more than $4 million for economic development within the county.
