The Concordia Board of Aldermen held a discussion about how the city should handle low-hanging trees over streets and sidewalks during its meeting.
The issue with overhanging trees has been discussed in previous board meetings. An ordinance from the city says that trees overhanging the street are to be trimmed to a minimum height of 14 feet above the surface. City Administrator Dale Klussman says the board is discussing ways to include the issue as a street improvement project.
The board plans to continue discussions in future meetings.
In other news, aldermen discussed temperature requirements for the Mayor’s Swim. The Mayor’s Swim is a day that families and individuals can go to the Concordia Aquatic Facility, and swim at a reduced rate once the temperature reaches a certain degree. Aldermen lowered the temperature for the Mayor’s Swim from 100 to 95 degrees. The new rate for the Mayor’s Swim was set at $1.
