An arrest has been made in connection with two reported burglaries at the same business on July 11 in Pettis County.

According to a release from the Sedalia Police Department, at approximately 12:16 a.m., Hurricane Bay Car Wash at 850 Winchester Drive was burglarized. Approximately $188 in property and money were stolen, and approximately $900 in property damage was caused. There were two suspects seen on video surveillance committing this burglary.

At approximately 11:30 p.m., the car wash was burglarized again. This time, approximately $1,400 in cash was stolen, and approximately $12,000 in property damage was caused to the vending and automated teller machines. There was one suspect seen on video surveillance committing this burglary.

The Sedalia Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Bureau developed leads on the two suspects.

On July 22, one suspect was located and questioned while at the Pettis County Jail for unrelated charges. During questioning, the subject reportedly confessed to his involvement with both of the burglaries at the car wash.

Several felony charges are being requested with the Pettis County Prosecutor’s Office: two counts of burglary in the second degree; two counts of property damage in the first degree; and stealing; as well as a misdemeanor for stealing.

There is another person of interest regarding the first burglary that was committed, however he has not been located at this time.

Per KMMO policy, the name of the arrested suspect will not be released until formal charges are filed.
