Three Kansas City, Kansas, residents have been charged with felonies after a reported high-speed pursuit on eastbound I-70 in Lafayette County on Wednesday, July 27.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, a trooper attempted a traffic stop but the vehicle sped away. The suspect vehicle reportedly traveled at speeds in excess of 120 miles per hour, passed several vehicles using the shoulder of the roadway and nearly caused a traffic crash. At that point, the trooper disengaged from the pursuit, but the suspect vehicle stopped shortly thereafter. However, two of the vehicle’s occupants fled and ran north through a bean field. The driver, 24-year-old Adrian Damian, and another passenger were secured and handcuffed at the scene. The two subjects who fled- 23-year-old Ulysses Guzman and 23-year-old Jesus Eli Sandoval- were located and arrested after the deployment of a drone from the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department.

Authorities say they located several weapons, loaded ammunition magazines, several THC wax containers, a THC vape cartridge and other drug-related items inside the vehicle.

According to court documents, Damian is charged with a felony for resisting arrest by fleeing. Guzman is charged with felonies for possession of a controlled substance and unlawful use of a weapon, as well as a misdemeanor for resisting arrest. Sandoval is charged with felonies for tampering with evidence in a felony prosecution and forgery, as well as a misdemeanor for resisting arrest. Bond for each subject is set at $25,000 cash only. The other passenger has not been charged.

Each defendant was arraigned and entered a plea of not guilty on July 27. Each subject’s next hearing is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 10, at Lafayette County Circuit Court.
