A race in Howard County is scheduled to be recounted.

Howard County voters voted on several races during the 2022 August Primary Election on Tuesday, August 2. The polls were open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. in precincts throughout Howard County.

According to unofficial election results, the Circuit Clerk/Ex-Officio Recorder of Deeds races needs to be recounted due to the race being within .5 percent. Teresa Syferd received 770 votes and Angie Nelson collected 767 votes. The recount is pending.

Several candidates ran unopposed on the ballot. Jeremiah Johnmeyer ran unopposed in the Howard County Presiding Commissioner race, receiving 1,296 votes. Shelly Howell ran unopposed for the County Clerk race. Howell received 1,298 votes. Jinger Felten received 1,343 votes running unopposed for Collector of Revenue. Deborah Riekhof received 1,206 votes while running unopposed for the Prosecuting Attorney race.

Several other races were decided in the August Primary Election, including several proposals related to the Howard County Ambulance District and Fire Protection District.
