Patrick Mahomes looked ready to go. Mahomes made it look easy in his short time on the field.

Mahomes threw for 60 yards and a touchdown in Kansas City’s first possession, then watched as the Chiefs lost to the Chicago Bears in their preseason opener on Saturday.

The Chiefs safety showed he could be an emergency kick, nailing an extra point after Justin Watson caught a 22-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Shane Buechele atThe the end of the first half. That put the Chiefs ahead at halftime 14-0.

Mahomes completed 6 of 7 passes, including a a 5 yeard touchdown pass to Blake Bell.

Jack Sanborn of Chicago had and interception and fumble recovery in the third quarter, leading to a touchdown and field goal for the Bears.

Trevor Siemian was 7-13 for 89 yards for Chicago with two touchdowns. He threw a 12 yard touchdown pass to Trestan Ebner early in the third quarter and 13 yard touchdown to Dazz Newsome.

Cairo Santos put Chicago on top 16-14 after hitting a 47 yeard field goal and added another to put the Bears up by the final score of 19-14.

Kansas City will host Washington next Saturday.
