
The Marshall City Council approved the first and second readings of an ordinance for taxation on city property Monday, August 15.
The ordinance was broken up into several different sections detailing the purpose of various levies.
Section one of the ordinance was the sum of .5901 cents per hundred dollars valuation by the Assessor and Board of Equalization for general purposes. Section two set the sum of .2551 cents per one hundred dollars valuation for the Park Fund, where it’s to be used for maintenance of free public parks.
Section three set the sum of .0395 cents per one hundred dollars for the Band Fund, to be used for purposes as directed by the city council. Section four sets the sum of .1516 cents per one hundred dollars valuation to create a special fund to be known as the Library Fund to be used for the establishment and maintenance of a public library.
Both readings were approved by unanimous vote by the city council.
