Sweet Springs hosted a season opening football jamboree Friday, August 19.

Most Missouri high schools had the opportunity to hit someone in a different colored
uniform Friday night as numerous area teams took part in Jamboree action to help
kick off the 2022 football season.

Four I-70 Conference eight-man squads squared off in Sweet Springs Friday evening
as the host Greyhounds, Santa Fe, Concordia and St. Paul’s met in a controlled
scrimmage heard on KMMO-AM.

Losers of their last seven games a season ago as they fashioned a 3-7 record, Santa Fe
looked especially sharp, scoring twice against all three of their opponents. Meanwhile,
Sweet Springs also found pay dirt during each rotation, nearly matching the Chiefs in
touchdowns scored.

Santa Fe mustered a total of six touchdowns to go with the nine first downs they accumulated as
the Greyhounds had five touchdowns and 12 first downs overall.

Struggling early but playing better as the evening progressed was St. Paul’s who scored
only twice with both touchdowns coming in their final rotation as they racked up five first downs in all.

Meanwhile, Concordia suffered through a long evening on offense with no touchdowns and
one first down for their efforts.

All four of these schools open the regular season with home games next Friday.
St. Paul’s will host Orrick in our Game of the Week coverage to be heard on KMMO-FM.
In addition, Sweet Springs entertains Norborne/Hardin-Central, Santa Fe will be home
versus Northwest/Sacred Heart and Concordia will host Northland Christian next Friday.
