
The Missouri Valley Vikings started the season with a 16-6 home win over Peru State on Saturday.
Freshman quarterback Jeff Bridges got the Vikings started with an eight-yard run into the end-zone in the first quarter to give the Vikings a 7-0 lead.
The Vikings went into halftime still leading by the same score.
On the first drive of the second half, running back Jalen Jones scampered 51 yards for a touchdown, putting the Vikings up 13-0.
Peru State scored cutting the Viking lead to 13-6, but the Vikings added a late field goal to make the final 16-6.
Valley goes on the road to Dubuque, Iowa next weekend to take on Clarke University.
