Two fugitives wanted following an incident in Pettis County on August 8, have been captured in Johnson County.

According to a release, Warrensburg Police Department, Johnson County Sheriff’s Office and Members of the Johnson County Crime Resolution Team (CRT) obtained information of the whereabouts of the two wanted fugitives on August 31.

The two suspects, Stewart Kimbrell and Crystal Summers, fled from a Trooper with the Missouri State Highway Patrol on US 65 Hwy before fleeing from the vehicle on foot into the woods. It was then discovered Kimbrell and Summers also had a 9 year old juvenile with them, who was later found abandoned by Summers and Kimbrell and was taken into the care of Child Services. Since that day, Kimbrell and Summers have eluded law enforcement.

Both Kimbrell and Summers were apprehended in Warrensburg.

Summers was transported to the Johnson County Jail to be held on several warrants. Kimbrell was transported to the Western Missouri Medical Center to be treated for dog bite related injuries. He will be held at the Johnson County Jail pending formal charges.

While further conducting the investigation in the 400 block of East Russell in Warrensburg, Warrensburg PD and a member of the Johnson County CRT observed another male, Shawn Stevenson, in the area and made contact with him. Stevenson had an extraditable warrant out of Kentucky for Failure to Appear-Amphetamine Possession and fled from officers after contact was made. Stevenson was apprehended nearby without further incident. He was transported to the Johnson County Jail to be booked on Resisting Arrest charges and to be held as a Fugitive From Out Of State.
