A 36-year-old Sedalia man facing a couple of felony charges after authorities executed a no-knock search warrant at an apartment on U.S. Highway 50 in Pettis County on June 9 is due in court.
According to a probable-cause statement, authorities say when they entered the apartment, Jonathan Johnson ran toward the back of the residence. He was located lying on the bathroom floor, and a law-enforcement officer says there was a bag containing a crystal substance on top of toilet paper in the toilet. The officer says “from my experience, I know subjects to flush or attempt to flush the evidence.” The officer also said he observed a digital scale on the bathroom floor and a blue scale on Johnson’s dresser. Authorities also say they located other drug-related items, including a chocolate bar containing psilocybin mushrooms and another bag containing methamphetamine.
Court documents say Johnson is charged with felonies for trafficking drugs in the second degree and tampering with physical evidence in a felony prosecution. Johnson posted $30,000 surety bond on June 16.
Johnson was arraigned on June 13. His counsel-status hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 13 at Pettis County Circuit Court.
