The Missouri Public Service Commission has approved a filing made by Evergy Missouri Metro to adjust the fuel adjustment clause (FAC) charge on the bills of its electric customers.
Evergy Missouri Metro made two filings with the Commission. In its first filing (ER-2023-0030), Evergy Missouri Metro proposed to adjust the FAC to reflect changes in its fuel and purchased power costs, net of off-system sales revenues incurred by the Company from January through June 2022. The second filing was Evergy Missouri Metro’s FAC true-up (EO-2023-0029).
For a residential customer using 1,000 kWh (kilowatt-hours) of electricity a month, the FAC will increase by approximately $0.17 a month, from a current bill credit of approximately $3.66 a month to a bill credit of approximately $3.49 a month. The change will take effect on October 1, 2022.
The FAC tariff allows the company to pass increases or decreases in its net fuel and purchased power costs to customers outside of a general rate case.
The FAC allows the company to recover most – up to 95 percent – of its costs, but not all, to encourage conservation and prudence in fuel use by the company. Any charges resulting from the fuel adjustment clause must appear in a separate category on customers’ bills.
Evergy Missouri Metro serves approximately 300,840 electric customers in 13 Missouri counties, including Carroll, Chariton, Howard, Johnson, Lafayette, Pettis, and Saline in the KMMO listening area.
