The Marshall Municipal Utilities Board of Public Works considered bids to replace Sterling Dump Truck number 219.

The current model is a 2000 Sterling L9511 with 127,400 miles and 9,807 engine hours. The bids were opened on August 24, and a total of five bids were received. Underground Facilities director Grant Piper recommended the board accept the bid from Premier Truck Group of Kansas City for the cost of $115,302.

The bid is several thousand dollars under the $120,000 budget. The board approved a motion to accept the bid. MMU plans to sell the old truck once the new unit is completed.

In other news, the board also accepted a bid from municipal Pipe Tool Company LLC to rehab approximately 4,600 feet of sewer main using the Cured-In-Place-Pipe method for the total cost of $167,110. The bid was the low bid, but still came in over the $150,000 budget.
