The Marshall community is invited to join the Parks & Recreation Department and SWT Design to review draft recommendations for the Parks Master Plan at an Open House. Light refreshments will be provided. The event will be held from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 27 at the Martin Center located at 1985 South Odell Avenue.

This planning process was initiated in February 2022 and has received significant support and input from the community as a foundation for these draft recommendations. The engagement and input received included 626 participants responding to the online survey and numerous discussions and feedback from residents and park visitors at the February 11 Winterwarming basketball games, March 8 Open House #1, and the June 21 Street Food Throwdown food truck event.

Marshall Parks and Recreation is now looking for additional input from the community as it finalizes the recommendations that will guide the Department in providing a parks system that meeting the needs of the Marshall Community over the next 20 years. The draft recommendations consider items such as:

– Trails within the parks and connections to the community,
– Consideration of new or expanded parks within the City of Marshall,
– Care of existing park amenities: shelters, playgrounds, athletic fields, courts, etc.,
– Removal or existing and/or addition of new amenities within the Parks,
– Programs and Events offered within the Parks and through partnerships,
– Potential for the removal of the Indian Foothills Park pool.

At the Open House you can review the recommendations in more detail and discuss them with neighbors and the planning team. The department is looking for your thoughts and feedback on these recommendations and what you would prioritize for the Marshall Parks System.
