The Carroll County YMCA held a press conference to introduce a $5,000,000 campaign to make improvements and additions to their new facility. An advisory group approached businesses and individuals in Carrollton for pledges in support of the project.
A total of $1,870,000 has already been pledged to the campaign, with $1,500,000 designated for the first three phases of the building. The costs of the first phase are estimated to be $2,200,000 on the former Adams School.
YMCA executive director Kathy Lock said that the YMCA has outgrown their current facility after eight years. Proposed drawings for the building show rooms for kids and teen programs, child care, board meetings, aerobic classes, and office space.
