
A Carroll County man was arrested and charged with a felony in Carroll County on Thursday, September 22.
According to a probable cause statement, authorities observed Ronald Hines, of Hale, asleep in the passenger seat of a vehicle after it appeared he ran off the road and came to rest against on an embankment.
Hines stated that he had gotten tired while driving and denied using any drugs or alcohol. In the interview with authorities, Hines was sluggish and his speech was slow and mumbled. Hines stated that he had driven from Laclede but did not have a final destination.
Hines was given a field sobriety test and was placed under arrest.
While searching the vehicle, authorities found a large bag of a crystal white crystal substance.
Hines was charged with a felony for delivery of a controlled substance and four misdemeanors.
An initial court appearance was held Monday, September 26 in Carroll County Circuit Court. No bond was set. A bond hearing is scheduled for Friday, September 30 at 10 a.m.
