The Marshall Parks and Recreation Department held an open house to get feedback on draft recommendations for the department’s Master Plan on Tuesday, September 27.

The public was invited to view the recommendations created by SWT Design, provide input, and speak with several board members at the open house. This planning process was initiated in February 2022 and has received significant support and input from the community as a foundation for these draft recommendations. Marshall Parks Board President Scott Fann says the plan will give the department direction over the next 20 years.

Many citizens came to the open house to voice their displeasure with the recommendation to potentially close the pool. Fann said that the recommendation was just one of many, and that the board had no intention of closing the pool.

Fann said the master plan will be accepted and used by the board once enough feedback has been collected. He said nothing in the plan itself will be concrete, but will help guide the board and give the department goals for the next 20 years.
