
A Columbia man has been charged with multiple felonies after a traffic stop in Boonville on Monday, October 10.
According to a probable cause statement, Dannie Rice was pulled over by a Boonville Police Officer for pulling a trailer with a non working tail light. During the traffic stop the officer discovered that Rice’s driving privileges had been revoked. The vehicle Rice was driving was titled to him but not registered. The vehicle Rice was driving was also found to have a license plate that belonged to a different vehicle and not registered to Rice.
Rice was found to have two active warrants and was arrested. During a probable cause search of the vehicle a firearm was secured and processed through MULES/NCIC, which resulted in an active stolen firearm entry. During the search a loaded needle was found in the center console of the vehicle. Also during the search the officer located a case containing a clear plastic bag with thirteen pills. Eleven pills were identified as acetaminophen and oxycodone, a schedule two controlled substance, while two pills were identified as clonazepam a schedule four controlled substance.
Rice admitted to finding the pills in a box he had acquired and not disposing of them. Rice denied knowledge of the firearm.
According to court documents, Rice was charged with felonies for unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance, driving while revoked and unlawful use of a weapon. Bond is set at $50,000 cash or surety.
