In a recent meeting of the Fayette City Council, the council voted in favor of accepting a proposal by Megaphone Designs to host and support the city’s website in a year-long contract. The city’s former website service Re-Kreate, asked the city to find a new service as it changes its business model.

The annual cost to hire Megaphone Designs is $1.700.00 with a one-time cost of $300.00 to transfer the site to its servers. Paying annually will save the city $100.00 over paying monthly.`

In other news, the council discussed the half-cent public safety tax that will be put before voters during the November 8 election. Revenues will be split between the Fayette Police Department and the Fayette Fire Department, although the division has not been worked out. If approved the new tax is expected to generate between $115,000.00 and $150,000.00 annually. It is expected to fund new equipment for both departments as well as help pay salaries.
