Johnson County Clerk, Diane Thompson recently reported that her office discovered a portion of voters that participate in the Vote at Home program received the incorrect ballot style for the November election.
Thompson and Voter Registration Deputies took immediate action to remedy the situation. Thompson stated that every application was reviewed against information in the voter registration base to determine how many voters were affected. Affected voters were contacted by phone to make them aware they would need a replacement ballot. Impacted voters without a phone number on file were sent a letter.
Thompson and Voter Registration staff hand delivered correct ballots and retrieved the incorrect ballots that had been sent. The only difference between the two ballots is the State Representative Race, with some voters residing in the redrawn House District 54 and others residing in the newly created House District 57. The issue was noticed immediately after the ballot packets were mailed so most voters were contacted by the Clerk’s office before they received their ballot.
