A Slater man who was charged with a felony for assault has a preliminary hearing scheduled.

According to a probably causes statement, a Saline County Sheriff deputy was dispatched to a Slater residence in regard to a domestic assault in progress. Upon arrival, authorities made contact with the victim, who reportedly had a swollen face with a large lump on her forehead. Authorities also stated the woman had bruising and was bleeding.

The victim told authorities that Charles Baker Jr. had allegedly punched her in the face following a disagreement.

Court documents say Baker is charged with felonies for domestic assault in the third degree and resisting arrest. Bond was set at $10,000 cash only.

Baker has a preliminary hearing set for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 19 at Saline County Circuit Court.
