The Carrollton City Council met on Monday, October 17 and discussed an ordinance to separate overlapping utilities underground.

Mayor Frank Olvera stated that the ordinance was needed especially now due to the new fiber optic cable going into the city. Olvera stated that an ordinance had not been on the books to separate sewer and water from other underground utilities. The council unanimously approved the ordinance.

In other news from the meeting a discussion was held on the need to hire police officers. Olvera stated that Carrollton has had a hard time getting officers hired recently. Discussion was brought up about the idea of sponsoring and paying for local young people to attend a local police academy. No action was taken and the council will bring the subject up as well as officer pay at a future meeting.
