
The Saline County Career Center Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Chapter took part in a state-wide observance of FBLA Day on Wednesday, October 19, 2022. The inaugural event was signified by a Governor’s Proclamation by Governor Mike Parson. FBLA Day recognizes the contributions of FBLA, the nation’s largest youth business organization, to student success. The chapter has been hard at work for the 2022-2023 school year with thirty-seven members.
The year began with the executive officer team meeting to create a yearly program of work. Officers recruited new members with an informational booth at the Marshall Public Schools Open House. New and returning members gathered for a barbecue at Indian Foothills Park and members traveled to Kansas City for Career Day at Kauffman Stadium, where students learned about business related careers within the Royals organization. For homecoming, members decorated a float and distributed candy. The chapter is represented by two district officers, Holly Huston serves as the district vice president of membership and Lauren Chaney-King is the vice president of communications. A chapter meeting has been held each month where members gather to plan conitinual career and service focused events throughout the school year.
FBLA-PBL has nearly 9,000 members in 400 chapters across the state of Missouri. FBLA-PBL inspires and prepares students to become community-minded business leaders in a global society through relevant career preparation and leadership experiences. Intracurricular activities include career exploration, civic service, economic education and technical skill advancement. FBLA-PBL also works to encourage and support entrepreneurship.
