
Wilma Jean Krause, 91, of Independence, MO, died Saturday, October 29, 2022, in her home with her daughter, Debbie, and son-in-law, David, by her side.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 5, 2022, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sweet Springs. Inurnment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association or Messiah Lutheran Church in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home. Wilma was born on May 8, 1931, in Marshall, MO, daughter of the late Charley Hemme and Frances Ruth Roscher Hemme. She was baptized in her Lutheran faith on June 7, 1941, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sweet Springs. Wilma was a graduate of Sweet Springs High School. On June 26, 1949, she married the love of her life, Arthur Krause Jr. They were married for 72 beautiful years at the time of Jr.’s passing on April 19, 2021. Wilma worked different jobs throughout her early life. She was a soda jerk, worked at the Sweet Springs Shoe Factory, and worked as a caregiver for many in their homes. She was a loving wife and devoted mother who loved raising her 5 children and being an amazing role model for them and her grandchildren. Wilma loved, and decorated, each holiday and provided delicious meals for her family for those holiday’s. Wilma was loved by all who were blessed to know her. Wilma and Jr. lived in Sweet Springs until 1959 at which time they moved to Kansas City, KS. One year later they moved to their home of 61 years in Independence, MO. They were lifelong members of Messiah Lutheran Church, and their children were confirmed there.
She is survived by two daughters, Sandra Schlobohm of Kansas City, KS and Debbie Dearth (David) of Basehor, KS; three sons: Daryl Krause (Cathie O’Boyle Collins) of Ottawa, KS, Larry Krause (Lisa) of Rayville, MO, and Paul Krause (Terri) of Celina, TX.
Wilma is also survived by her 16 grandchildren: Jeff Beverstock (Jeri), Shawn Beverstock (Tim), Gayla Metchnikoff (Mike), Wes Schlobohm (Debra), Chad Dearth, Casey Dearth (Julie), James Dearth, Kenny Krause (Michele), Jennifer Krause, Greg Bernard (Becky), Brian Bernard (Peggy), Brent Krause (Jill), Justin Krause, Tiffany Bass (Travis), Dawn Krause, and Misha Tritsch (Darron). She also has 27 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Wilma also has two brothers, Charles R. Hemme (Shirley, deceased) and John O. Hemme (Sharon); a sister who preceded her in death, Charlene Bredehoeft (Wallace); a step-brother, Gene Sims (Janet); a step-sister, Marty Heermann (Don); as well as many nieces and nephews.
Wilma was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Krause Jr.; twin sons, Jerry and Terry; her parents, Charley Hemme and Francis Ruth Roscher Hemme; a grandson, Tommy Krause; a granddaughter, Nicole Krause; son-in-law, Marion Schlobohm; daughter-in-law, Lynn Krause; her sister, Charlene Bredehoeft; and step-mother, Louelle Hemme.
