Elberta “Bert” Lorenz, of Corder, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at her home in Corder.

Bert was granted an earthly life of Ninety-six years and four months.

She was born on June 25, 1926, to Ralph and Nora (Bredehoeft) Schroeder in the Flora neighborhood between Alma and Concordia, Missouri. She graduated with the Concordia High School Class of 1945.

She was united in marriage to Roy “Bud” Lorenz on August 23, 1946, and this union was blessed with three sons, Rodney, Doug, and Greg. They shared fifty-four years of marriage and made many memories together. Unfortunately, Bud preceded her in death in 2001.

Bert and Bud opened their business, Lorenz Service, in 1949, where Bert was the bookkeeper for seventy years. In her spare time, she loved camping, dancing, card playing, gardening & canning, knitting & crocheting, and in the quiet times, she enjoyed reading and proof-reading cookbooks, but most important to her was going to church. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, the Zion Lutheran Dorcas Society, and a long-time member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Corder, where she was the oldest church member.

Bert is survived by her three sons, Rodney (Barb) Lorenz, Doug (Goldie) Lorenz, and Greg Lorenz, all of Corder, Missouri; two granddaughters, Angie Ficken (Kevin) of Booneville, Missouri, and Martha Swearingin (Jason) of Urbana, Missouri; three great-grandsons, Tyler Swearingin, Tanner Swearingin, and Kole Ficken (Camryn); a great-granddaughter, Makenzie (Austin) Hulbert; one great-great-grandson, Taten Hulbert; and a sister, Lavona Dittmer of Independence, Missouri.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Roger Schroeder and Roland Schroeder.

She will lie in state from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 28, 2022, at Zion Lutheran Church.

The family will be present for the visitation that will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the church.

A funeral service will commence at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 28, 2022, at Zion Lutheran Church in Corder, Missouri, with Pastor Kurt Brandon officiating the service.

Burial will be at Zion Cemetery, Corder, where she will rest in peace next to her husband.

Pallbearers: Ted Draper, Kevin Warren, Tanner Swearingin, Jason Swearingin, Kurt Lorenz, and Kole Ficken.

Honorary Pallbearers: Hubert & Mary Dickmeyer, Gary & JoAnn Bauer, Mark Gross, Tyler Swearingin, and Makenzie Hulbert.
