Saline County Collector Cindi Sims issued a statement regarding the Assessor’s Fund during the Saline County Commission meeting on Wednesday, November 9, 2022.

According to Sims an additional one half of one percent from taxing entities will be placed in escrow beginning in November 2022.

Sims went on to state that the current amount being withheld was set forth under the direction of the State Tax Commission (STC). A handout from the STC was provided to the Saline County Collector’s Office in 2009, which provided guidance on the matter per a 2008 Senate Bill. Sims than went on to state that she would need an order from the court or an opinion from the STC or Attorney General stating the interpretation of a state statute.
