An Independence man was charged with multiple felonies in Cooper County on Thursday, November 17, 2022.

According to a probable cause statement, on September 4, 2022 a Cooper County Sheriff’s Deputy identified a man with a limp identified as Joshua Dillon through surveillance video stealing a truck at S.C. Diesel on old Highway 40 near Boonville.

On October 9, 2022 authorities were dispatched to the Eagle Stop Gas Station on Highway 135 for a report of an ATM missing inside the store. Dillon was identified as the driver of the vehicle in surveillance tape. During investigation authorities discovered that Dillon and another individual had stolen another vehicle and parked it a distance away to be used as a getaway vehicle.

As the investigation continued The Cooper County Sheriff’s Department was contacted by multiple agencies in western Missouri and Kansas and notified that Dillon’s description matched the suspect in several ATM, Arsons and Motor Vehicle thefts in the region. Dillon walks with a limp due to a prosthetic leg, which helped in identification.

On November 12, 2022, the deputy was contacted by Kansas City Police who informed him that Dillon was arrested in Blue Springs for tampering, resisting arrest and attempted theft of an ATM.

According to court documents, Dillon was charged with three counts of tampering with a vehicle, three counts of stealing a vehicle, one count of burglary, one count of property damage, one count of receiving stolen property and one count of knowingly burning or exploding.

Bond was set at $200,000 cash or surety. Court arrangements have not been set.
