
University of Missouri Extension will host free farm tax workshops in December to update farmers and ranchers on farm and individual tax filings.
MU Extension agriculture business specialist Mary Sobba stated farmers can attend via Zoom or in person at locations throughout the state. Attendees can either choose the December 1 or December 6 session.
Topics will include farm income averaging, bonus versus Section 179 depreciation, income leveling techniques, charitable contributions, weather-related sales of livestock, health saving accounts, like-kind exchanges and 1099s. Sobba also will share IRS resources and updates that farmers and ranchers will find helpful.
Workshops in the KMMO listening area include at the MU Extension Center, at 353 South Lafayette in Marshall, from 12:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m., Thursday, December 1 and from 6:15 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the MU Extension Center in Higginsville at 14 East Ninth Street on December 6.
