The Saline County Career Future Business Leaders of America Chapter (FBLA) has been awarded a $500 grant from the Missouri Beef Industry Council to promote beef and in turn help alleviate hunger in Marshall. The Missouri Beef Industry Council offers grants to provide funding for non-profit groups to promote beef in their communities. The grant is funded through the Beef Checkoff program.

Through an initiative titled “Have a Beefed up Thanksgiving,” FBLA members will procure 100 percent beef sticks and stock them, along with information about the nutritional benefit of beef in ten Little Food Pantries throughout Marshall. An excerpt from the grant reads, ” ‘Have a Beefed Up Thanksgiving’ would provide 100 percent beef sticks from the Missouri Beef Industry Council to increase protein intake of food pantry patrons and expose them to beef as an option during Thanksgiving season.”
