The Higginsville Board of Aldermen held a public hearing on the environmental impact of proposed wastewater system improvements during its meeting on Monday, November 21.

City Administrator Jeanette Dobson said Norman Lucas from the Pioneer Trails Planning Commission, and Dane Drysdale of McClure Engineering Company were at the hearing to answer any questions.

It was reported that the wastewater system improvements would have a positive environmental impact. Dobson said the board approved an agreement with the Pioneer Trails Regional Planning Commission to submit an application for a CDBG grant for the wastewater project.

In other news from the meeting, the board approved a contract with Gerding, Korte, and Chitwood for the city’s annual audit for the next three years. The contract was approved through September 30, 2025.
